Mission: Towards capacity building for inclusive development in Africa
Vision: To be a foremost think tank committed to conducting cutting edge research for positively influencing public policy towards inclusive development in Africa.

Who we are:

One of the major challenges to achieving inclusive development in Africa is deficit in governance at both personal, corporate levels. Despite the huge premium that the World Bank and other international institutions place on good governance as a possible solution to the myriads of challenges that confront Africa, misappropriation of public funds has remained prominent on the continent. Apart from the macroeconomic challenges that have confronted Africa for decades and on which many external interventions have been focused, there are micro challenges with governance which have not received much attention both in literature and policy. Deficit in governance at personal level manifests in all forms of corruption at the macro level. Apart from corruption, the cut throat competitions, rivalry, infightings within organisations, and nepotism that characterise the public space in Africa have sub-optimal outcomes in terms of policy and development.

While the challenges associated with effective policy making in Africa have been identified, not much attention has been paid to issues of policy evaluations at the sub-national, national and regional levels. The African School of Governance and Policy Studies was set up to address the problems identified above by building capacity of Africans in the following thematic areas:

1. Political Governance
2. Economic Governance
3. Citizenship and Ethical Leadership
4. Policy Studies and Evaluation
